Born in 1983, Julien Desplanque began his musical training at the age of ten at the Frévent music school. He was admitted in 1998 to the CRR of Douai in the class of Guy Mouy. In 2003, he obtained his horn and chamber music prize unanimously and entered the same year the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. There he obtained his higher education diploma in the class of André Cazalet and chamber music and in the class of David Walter while being invited to play with the Paris Orchestra, the Philharmonic of Radio France, the Paris Opera and the Capitole de Toulouse under the direction of conductors such as Boulez, Salonen, Gergiev, Eschenbach, Krivine. In 2007, he was appointed first principal horn at the Marseille Opera.
Since then, he has performed regularly as a soloist and in chamber music, notably with the Ensemble Initium. He has taken part in several festivals such as the Chaise Dieu, Deauville, la roque d’antheron and Lutoslawski’s at the Warsaw Symphony Radio conducted by H Holliger. Julien is a regular guest at the Académie des Nuits Pianistiques in Aix en Provence.
