Laurent Camatte has been awarded five prizes by the Conservatoire National de Région de Marseille and is also a student of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he has been awarded various prizes. He is also the winner of numerous international viola competitions.
He is a soloist in several ensembles, including the prestigious Ensemble Intercontemporain, with which, in particular, he plays Pierre Boulez’s Éclat-multiples under the direction of its author. He also develops analytical skills. This is why he is invited as a regular guest on Jean-Pierre Derrien’s L’atelier du musien on France Musique, where he comments and illustrates the major works of the viola repertoire.
