After studying music at the Conservatoire National de Région de Versailles (class of H. Dionet), Robert Bianciotto continued his training at the École Normale de Musique de Paris where he obtained a concert licence (in the class of Guy Danguain).
Winner of the international competitions of Orvieto (Italy) and Martigny (Switzerland), he is invited to perform as a soloist and with various chamber music ensembles in the main European festivals. He also collaborates with the most important composers of our time (Bério, Messiaen, Dusapin, Holliger, Amy, etc).

A graduate of the certificate of aptitude, he devotes part of his time to teaching.
He is invited as a teacher in numerous courses and academies in Les Arcs, the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, the Academy of Modern Youth of Europe, etc.
He has given master classes in China and Japan.
Since 1984, he has been a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon.

His interest in symphonic music was revealed notably after playing under the direction of Karl Böhm and Leonard Bernstein with the Orchestre National de France. He is invited by many orchestras: Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille, Orchestre de Radio France, Scarlatti de Naples, etc.
In addition, he has just recorded the world premiere of Astor Piazzola’s concerto for clarinet and strings with the Toulouse National Chamber Orchestra.
He has been principal clarinet of the Orchestre National de Lyon since 1976.
